Place plastic on the floor under your goods.
"A box for everything and everything in a box" is the best protection of your goods. Use uniform sizes of boxes and stack them high to maximize your total storage space. We sell a variety of boxes and moving supplies at all U•Stor locations to assist you in packing for your storage unit.
Fill boxes to capacity. Partially full or bulking cartons may collapse or tip.
Leave a small air space between the goods stored and the storage unit walls to aid in ventilation.
Store valuables and small, lightweight items around the back of the storage unit. Move large and heavy items into storage last.
Protect your mattresses, sofas and chairs with plastic covers.
Do not place heavy or sharp objects on top of upholstered furniture.
Cover the entire storage space with a light plastic cover for dust. Allow for ventilation.
Use a good quality lock on your storage unit door. Cheap locks rust. We sell a variety of locks in different styles, along with other moving and packing supplies.
Insure your goods while in storage. Ask the manager about self storage insurance at reasonable rates.
Store frequently used items at front of storage space.
Keep a list of all items in storage as well as pictures and descriptions.
